Embedded Forms

An Embedded Form is a Form that can be embedded into another Form as a separate entity.

Use Embedded Forms to maintain and reuse smaller chunks of data, and to conditionally display the right data at the right time.

For example:

  • Show troubleshooting questions on your Incident Form, then replace them with resolution details when you are ready to close.
  • Display your standard Embedded Survey Form in the last step of a Portal Form to solicit Customer feedback.
  • Allow Users/Customers to toggle between simple and detailed Forms so that they can view more details only when needed.

The following figure shows the default KA Form, whose Main Pane toggles between two Embedded Forms: Article (simple) and Details (detailed). The simple Article Form shows only the KA Title and Solution/Workaround. The Details Form shows the KA Title and Solution/Workaround, as well as the keywords, Service Categorizations, Article Type, etc. Radio buttons allow Users/Customers to toggle between the two Embedded Forms.

The following figure shows how the KA Form is designed. The links tell CSM which Embedded Form (Article or Details) to display in the KA Form Main Pane.

Embedded Form

Embedded Forms are created the same way as any CSM Form, but are then added to another Form using the Embedded Form Control.
