About Cherwell Mobile for Android
Cherwell Mobile™ for Android™ is the Cherwell Service Management® (CSM) Android app, which provides access to CSM from an Android™ device. Use Cherwell Mobile for Android to:
- View Mobile Dashboards.
- View Mobile Alerts.
- Pin items to Pinboards.
- Use mobile gestures to execute commands.
- Work
with Mobile records.
- Search for records.
- View proximity.
- Map records.
- Open a record.
- Drill-down into a child record.
- Run Actions/One-Step Actions (against a record to update it).
- View an Attachment.
- Attach a photo.
- Scan a barcode.
The Android application takes advantage of screen size, so a list of records on a phone might show as multi-column panels on a tablet with sufficient screen size. The look and feel of the application will vary depending on your device's theme.
Cherwell Mobile for Android can be downloaded using the Google Play store app. To access Cherwell Mobile for Android from the Google Play store, you must have a device supported by Google services. In addition, your device must support the Android application, which requires Android 4.2 or later and access to a Cherwell Portal and Browser Apps server running CSM 4.60b or later. If your device has an earlier version of Android, or runs a customized variant of the Android OS (ex: Kindle and Nook), then it might not support Cherwell Mobile for Android.
Before using Cherwell Mobile, it must be configured. Configuration involves creating Mobile Dashboards and Forms, configuring security rights, and configuring settings (login settings, Cherwell Mobile settings, and settings on each mobile device). The Cherwell Mobile settings (sometimes referred to as a mobile configuration) specify the CSM data to make available in mobile devices (ex: Which Mobile Home and Alert Dashboards, Business Objects, Actions/One-Step Actions, etc.), and are initially configured in CSM Administrator (either Globally or by Role); however, Users who have security rights he can define their User (personal) Cherwell Mobile settings.
